2 Day Woodcarving Workshop
with Don Powell
or phone 07 5494 3151
Don will be conducting his popular hand held woodcarving course at this year's Expo. Hand held carving is a good way to learn the art of wood carving and is how Don started his career; one is able to start without the expense of a considerable number of large tools and equipment. Many carvers in the world specialise in hand held carving. In a class situation it is very sociable.
Don covers the various aspects of carving - including sharpening - and teaches through a project he has prepared. You will have a choice of projects to work on. Males and females perform equally well and super strength is not necessary: the secret is technique and sharp tools. All are welcome and it is good if the class is a blend of beginners and more advanced carvers.
Don is a professional carver who carves everything from miniature jewellery pieces to larger than life sculptures. He is experienced with many wood species and with Mammoth ivory. Don has written numerous magazine articles and is a very experienced teacher.
Don’s courses fill quickly, so it is important that you do not delay your registration!
