Woodworking Competition with a Conscience

The Wootha Prize is an innovative woodworking competition that highlights the inherent beauty of Australia’s native timbers and the sustainable use of our timber resources. Held in conjunction with the Maleny Wood Expo, a major event on the woodworking calendar each year, the competition challenges artists to create masterpieces from ethical timber sources.

The theme for 2015 is ‘planting the seed’ and is open to artistic interpretation. Entries may be contemporary to traditional in design.

The Maleny Wood Expo, hosted by Barung Landcare, celebrates the region’s ongoing timber heritage and will be held on 2nd and 3rd May 2015 in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Recognised as one of Australia’s premier woodworking competitions the Wootha Prize boasts over $4,000 in prize money.

The application deadline is Friday 13th February 2015 and successful applications will be notified in early March.
